Well I will be discussing with you in the next blog what the different methods and how you and your family can decide what is the Best Teeth Whitening Method for you. But before I explain those methods with you, I would like you to read this blog first as I feel that it is important for you to understand the side effects related to teeth whitening.
Understanding the side effects of teeth whitening
Before you decide to undergo a teeth whitening treatment, it is important to understand the side effects that are involved, so that you can be prepared and know how to handle it. The most common side effect that is known to come from teeth whitening is the effect of sensitivity. The reason for this is because most teeth whitening products that you find on the market all contain chemicals such as Hydrogen peroxide or Carbamide peroxide. These two chemicals do not react well with people that have ether sensitive gums, or soft mouth tissue. The second reason for sensitivity after whitening teeth, is because some people abuse the products or do not apply the recommended dose. This results in the enamel on our teeth becoming weak and wearing away, reveling the under coat of our teeth which is called the dentine. When the dentine is exposed to substances that are ether to hot or to cold it causes a sharp striking pain in the tooth. If you feel that after you have undergone a teeth whitening treatment, and you have sensitivity don’t panic as the sensitivity should go away after about two to three days. I do recommend that if you are suffering from sensitivity in your teeth after whitening, that you get ether Sensodyne or a fluoride rinse as these products contain fluoride, which will eliminate the discomfort of sensitivity in your mouth.
